Donny Allen Award

Donny Allen
Donny Allen played lacrosse for 17 seasons with the Windsor Clippers and later the Warlocks guiding them to three national senior championships and later coaching Windsor’s national Jr. B team to a title in 1975.  His passion for sports wasn’t limited to lacrosse.  In 1958 he won the Detroit Golden Gloves boxing championships and also played rugby for the Windsor Rugby Football Club.

Donny enjoyed a 35-year career with the Windsor Separate School Board before retiring in 1992.  He brought his passion for sports to the children of our board serving as a physical education consultant for most of his teaching career influencing the lives of thousands of students.  He believed that every child that was chosen to be a member of a school team should have an opportunity to play.  He instituted a participation rule for all elementary sports to ensure that would happen.  In 1992-93 he received the Ontario Physical and Health Education Award from his provincial peers for his outstanding contributions to the field of physical education.
