Math Support

Ensuring that students meet mathematics curriculum expectations and are equipped with the mathematical skills they will require in order to succeed in today’s high-tech economy are important priorities for us.

Outside the classroom, students typically look to their parents for assistance with their mathematics homework. To support the parents of our students, we have curated a variety of mathematics resources that will assist parents in providing help to their children.

The Ontario Ministry of Education has created an online resource which includes curriculum guides and other materials in a variety of subject matter, including mathematics. You can find that resource here.

TVO Learn and Mathify offer seamless school-to-home math learning and free online math tutoring for students in Grades 4-12. The tutors are qualified Ontario math teachers who can chat online with students, or use audio to speak directly with them. Students can upload images of math questions onto an interactive whiteboard to communicate with the tutors. There are more than 800 ready-to-use math questions for students and tutors to access. Tutors are available Monday to Friday 9am to 9pm and 3pm to 9pm Saturday and Sunday.

In order to register, the student must have their OEN number available. You can register here.

Amplify Polypad is another useful resource where parents can find virtual manipulatives to further support their child's math experience.

Desmos is a free graphing calculator that parents can also use to help support learning. This tool is also available to use during EQAO grade 9 math assessment.

Finally, be sure to check out this great video which speaks to a growth mindset and the concept that everyone can be a math learner.
