Curriculum

Beginning September 2024, all of our secondary schools are replacing the Grade 11 English course with the Understanding Contemporary First Nations, Métis and Inuit Voices course so that all students will have a knowledge and appreciation of First Nations, Métis and Inuit histories, cultures, perspectives and contributions. This course is intended to prepare students for the compulsory Grade 12 English university or college preparation course. This is part of our commitment to respond to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's (TRC) Calls to Action for Education (#62, 63) and to build respectful and reciprocal relationships to support reconciliation between Indigenous peoples and Canadian society.
