What distinguishes an academy from regular Tech Studies & COOP Programs?
An Academy is a specialized program for students that combines the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP), the Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) program, and Dual Credit. It is offered in Grades 11 & 12 where students begin their apprenticeship in a skilled trade of their choice, become a registered OYAP apprentice while in high school, attain over 1,000 hours towards their apprenticeship, and complete the Level 1 College schooling prior to graduation.
