The
Better Schools and Student Outcomes Act received royal assent in the provincial legislature on June 8, 2023. Its primary goals are to promote student achievement and transparency for parents, and to advance improved learning outcomes, student engagement and well-being.
The act includes a framework that sets out goals and performance indicators for school boards to measure student achievement, develop action plans, and monitor their progress on improving student outcomes.
One of the requirements is for district school boards to prepare a Student Achievement Plan and share it with community stakeholders by posting it to their website.
The plan below includes our latest EQAO results, performance indicators on student preparedness for future success, engagement and well-being, as well as actions the WECDSB intends to take in the next three years to improve student outcomes. In our efforts to continually improve, the Student Achievement Plan will be revisited on an annual basis.
