Student vaccines
Posted on 05/14/2021
Note: this article was updated on May 23 to reflect the fact that vaccine appointments can be booked earlier than what was previously announced.

The  Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine has now been approved for youth aged 12 to 17. Beginning May 23, individuals 12 years of age and older and their families will be eligible to register for a vaccination appointment.
Individuals between the ages of 12-17 can book their vaccine appointments at the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit's mass vaccination sites through its online booking system.
The provincial government had originally indicated that the weeks of June 14th and June 21st be targeted for first dose administration at mass clinics for youth, however they have moved up those dates.

The approval of this vaccine for this age group provides an important opportunity to continue to keep schools healthy and safe. We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity as soon as possible.
The health unit is currently working on information packages which we hope to distribute through our schools this week.
