Welcome to our We Need to Talk series

Adolescence is a time of exploration for youth. One of the many behaviours that may be adopted by young people is substance use. Generally, youth use substances to express their independence and this should not automatically be construed as "substance abuse". The majority of adolescents who use substances do not progress to problematic use or dependency.

This resource page was created to provide parents with information around the prevention of substance use and dealing with a substance use problem.

Part of the We Need to Talk series will include a proactive approach to:

  • Supporting students
  • Communicate with students, parents, teachers, and community
  • Build faith and academic excellence
